About The Position

Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is seeking a full-time Medical Records Filing Clerk to join their growing team at the Minnie Jones Health Center. This role is crucial for organizing, maintaining, and retrieving patient health information, ensuring accuracy and security in compliance with privacy regulations. The clerk will scan, index, file, and update both paper and electronic health records (EHR), providing essential support to healthcare staff by ensuring records are accessible for treatment and billing. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses good time management skills.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated competence with incoming correspondence.
  • Adept at utilizing technology.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Current, unencumbered Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar medical office role.
  • Previous experience navigating electronic health records.
  • Experience with Epic (EHR).

Responsibilities

  • Organize, maintain, and retrieve patient health information.
  • Ensure accuracy and security of patient health information in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Scan, index, file, and update paper and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Support healthcare staff by ensuring records are accessible for treatment and billing.
  • Manage and respond to incoming phone calls, emails, and EHR messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and employer policies, maintaining patient confidentiality.
