Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in medical records, customer service, or secretarial position
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Experience with scanning and maintaining electronic health records
Responsibilities
- File, scan, retrieve, and update both electronic and paper medical records while ensuring information remains complete and properly maintained.
- Process requests for records from patients, providers, insurance carriers, and authorized organizations while carefully following HIPAA guidelines and privacy requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams.
- Prepare records for referrals, appointments, audits, and continuity of care.
- Update patient information within the EHR system.
- Work with staff to obtain any missing documentation needed to keep records current and compliant.
