Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor of Medical Records, the Medical Records Clerk is responsible for the organization, administration, and management of medical and departmental records. This role involves understanding and promoting Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures. The clerk will prepare, maintain, copy, file, assemble, retrieve, log, and protect patient medical charts. They will also process and file new and existing patient records, review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance, and monitor the flow of charts for appointments and requests. A system for securing confidentiality and tracking charts will be established. Data entry into the computer system, maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and adhering to department policies on quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control are also key responsibilities. The role requires participation in departmental in-services and staff development activities.
