About The Position

Requirements

  • One (1) year of previous general office experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of filing systems.
  • Good organization skills, with orientation to detail and accuracy.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively with the medical staff, ancillary departments, and business office staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Medical Records representative and handles all walk-in requests for medical records.
  • Interacts positively with patients and the public, considering special needs related to age, emotional condition, or ability, and handles difficult situations appropriately.
  • Expert in release of information guidelines, dealing with power of attorney, guardianship, and sensitive health information. Verifies that all release forms are completed appropriately and may be required to visit a patient’s room to complete release of information or proxy form.
  • Handles subpoenas and distributes them appropriately when served.
  • Primarily responsible for enrolling patients in the Patient Portal, handling calls/questions regarding the Patient Portal, and answering direct messages from patients through the Patient Portal secure messaging.
  • Acts as the primary contact for all incoming telephone calls, takes messages, routes calls, and provides routine information to customers promptly and professionally.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use various computer software available for chart processing and viewing.
  • Assists in maintaining the unbilled report by obtaining and scanning clinic orders that were not captured upon registration.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient identity and protected health information by practicing HIPAA Guidelines.
  • Works closely and maintains a positive relationship with Diagnostic Imaging, Lab and Associate Health.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function within the electronic medical record in order to provide information to customers.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
