About The Position

Orthotic & Prosthetic Lab, Inc. has been in business for 39 years and is one of the oldest and largest independent orthotic and prosthetic companies in St. Louis with multiple locations. They pride themselves on teamwork and delivering quality products and services. This role is for a Medical Office Coordinator in their Webster Groves Patient Care Center to handle the Prosthetic Department, with cross-training in Orthotics for additional coverage when needed. The company is looking for someone for long-term employment, aiming for a 'Hire to Retire' scenario. The Office Associate is the first and last point of contact for patients, initiating work, gathering information for device/service completion and billing. Responsibilities include greeting patients, obtaining demographic data, copying insurance cards, answering calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, obtaining necessary medical documentation (letters of medical necessity, prescriptions, referrals), securing authorization numbers, entering data into the computer system, printing work orders, and collecting co-pays and deductibles.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, oral (including telephone) and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of medical reimbursement, medical terminology, and general office skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Windows based office technologies (e.g., Word, Excel) and e-mail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a busy setting with excellent attention to detail.
  • Longevity is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of customer service experience (Preferred)
  • 1 year of computer skills experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, obtain demographic data, and make copies of insurance cards and information.
  • Answer incoming calls from patients and fellow employees.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Verify patient insurance information.
  • Obtain letters of medical necessity, prescriptions, and referrals from referring physicians' offices.
  • Get authorization numbers.
  • Enter data into the computer system.
  • Print work orders.
  • Collect co-pays and deductibles.
  • Handle front office duties for the Prosthetic Department.
  • Cross-train in Orthotics for additional coverage when needed.
