About The Position

Greets and directs visitors in a positive and helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions/directions. Informs appropriate department of the patient’s arrival. Collects copays, schedules appointments, prepares paperwork, and makes appointment reminder phone calls. Enters and balances daily patient charge sheet, ensuring all patient files are accurately updated. Answers telephone in a professional manner, screens calls, and takes concise messages. Listens to and evaluates the needs of callers and handles them appropriately, with a focus on customer service and assistance. Supplements office staff by assisting with computer input/typing, appointment scheduling, preparation of forms, correspondence, compilation of data, and other various projects. Assists in the maintenance of office equipment and supplies while maintaining a clean and orderly reception area. Performs other duties or assists with projects as assigned. Creates a positive long-lasting impression on patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year receptionist experience, preferably in a health care environment
  • Ability to use MS Word, Outlook, Excel, EMR systems, preferable Allscripts
  • Interpersonal and communication skills in order to deal effectively, tactfully and courteously with callers, physicians and personnel in an expeditious manner
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Ability to work independently in a high stress area with good organizational skills
