About The Position

Samaritan Daytop Health is a FQHC community‑based health center based in the Bronx that provides holistic, integrated primary and behavioral healthcare to adults and families. It is in collaboration with Samaritan Daytop Village which provides housing, addiction support and behavioral health to the community. The clinic offers comprehensive services including primary care, psychiatric care, preventive health services, nutritional counseling, and case management, with a strong focus on culturally responsive and affordable care for underserved populations. As a trusted partner of Samaritan Daytop Village, the health center is closely integrated with substance use, mental health, and recovery programs, allowing patients to receive coordinated physical and behavioral healthcare in a supportive, patient‑centered environment. The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors and plays a critical role in creating a welcoming, professional, and patient-centered experience. Responsible for front office operations including patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, phone management, and administrative support while ensuring compliance with FQHC standards and HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1–2 years of office reception or administrative experience
  • Experience with EHR systems
  • Medicaid/Medicare and managed care experience preferred
  • Spanish bilingual skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff professionally.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Answer incoming calls and route messages appropriately.
  • Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-payments.
  • Register new patients and update demographic information.
  • Assist with sliding fee scale applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Scan and upload patient documentation into the EHR.
  • Support administrative and quality improvement activities.
  • Tracks and orders office supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations
  • Support care for underserved populations.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and patient-centered service.
  • Assist with community resource referrals.
  • Support patient outreach and engagement efforts.
