About The Position

Under the direction of the Front Desk Manager, this role ensures and assists with the efficient operations of the Front Desk Department. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, managing check-in/out processes, updating patient demographics, scheduling appointments, handling insurance coverage, processing outgoing referrals, managing voicemails, and facilitating interoffice communications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years customer service or medical office experience.
  • Intermediate computer competency, including the ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to type at a rate of 45 wpm with minimal errors.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use sound judgment when making decisions concerning patients and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments under varying degrees of pressure (usually from deadlines).
  • Proven ability to work well in a team situation or any other role assigned.
  • Complete professional and compassionate focus on patient care and customer service.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to exhibit workplace civility and promote a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cheerfully and professionally greet and assist all patients within the practice.
  • Obtain patient demographic information and accurately input into the EMR.
  • Verify patient insurance information at each visit.
  • Scan pertinent patient information into EMR, including authorizations and recent lab reports provided by the patient.
  • Obtain patient authorization for medical records release (HIPAA compliance).
  • Schedule necessary appointments after completion of patient visit.
  • Monitor and review patient schedules for next-day office appointments to prepare charts.
  • Collect co-pays and patient balances.
  • Identify and accurately resolve minor patient billing complaints.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking of office supplies.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the patient lobby.
  • Assist other Medical Receptionists and clinic colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
