About The Position

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Receptionist to accurately check patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining patient records and accounts. This role is crucial for maintaining patient flow and providing positive patient relations within a busy clinic environment. AFC is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S., focusing on episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine, with state-of-the-art centers equipped with onsite labs and in-house x-ray capabilities. This position works directly with a franchised business location, and specific job duties and benefits may vary between franchises.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent
Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office
Accuracy and detail orientation
Positive customer service skills
Well-groomed appearance
Clear and articulate phone mannerisms

Nice To Haves

Previous medical clerical experience preferred

Responsibilities

Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, opening all systems applications, and preparing new patient registration packets and required documents
Greet patients, provide patients with initial paperwork and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards
Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out
Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues
Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports
Complete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports
Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
Maintain complete and accurate documentation
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
