The Medical Receptionist is responsible for maintaining the front desk and reception area, ensuring it is neat and organized with necessary supplies. This role involves greeting visitors, including patients with disabilities and their families, with a positive and helpful attitude, providing excellent customer service. The receptionist manages a busy waiting room, ensuring patients are checked in, assisting with patient flow, and addressing or escalating concerns. For PHC assignments, responsibilities include collecting patient documentation for nursing review and updating registration information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The role also involves checking patient insurance eligibility, collecting copayments, scheduling appointments, and following up with patients regarding appointments. The Medical Receptionist assists the Practice Administrator with daily schedules to maximize productivity and coordinates transportation for patients by scheduling pick-ups/drop-offs and dispensing MetroCards as needed. They participate in quality improvement activities, escalate concerns, and monitor/respond to emails in a timely manner. Compliance with Federal, State, Local, and HIPAA regulations is essential. For Article 16 Clinic assignments, additional duties include answering and screening multi-line telephone calls, receiving and distributing mail, and registering new patients in the EMR.
