About The Position

MATClinics specializes in helping individuals overcome addiction, including opioid, alcohol, and stimulant use disorders. We integrate medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with comprehensive behavioral healthcare, mental health therapy, psychiatry, and ongoing support services to effectively manage substance use disorders and treat the whole person. This role is not a traditional front desk position; the Medical Receptionist is the first impression of the organization and the central hub that keeps the clinic running. The role balances patient service, administrative responsibilities, technology, and operational support in a fast-paced addiction medicine practice, requiring the ability to juggle multiple priorities daily.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A warm, professional, and patient-centered approach both in person and over the phone.
  • Comfortable learning and using electronic health records (EHR), scheduling software, insurance portals, and other digital tools.
  • Accurate with patient registration, insurance verification, payment collection, documentation, and administrative processes.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and remain calm in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and teammates.
  • Willing to jump in wherever needed to support patients, coworkers, and clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients with professionalism and compassion while managing check-in, intake paperwork, insurance cards, demographic updates, and patient flow throughout the day.
  • Answer a high volume of phone calls, schedule appointments, respond to patient questions, and help ensure patients receive timely care.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, explain financial responsibilities, collect copays, and accurately process patient payments.
  • Support providers by entering electronic prescriptions into the EHR pending queue, preparing patient resources, and assisting with other administrative tasks that keep patient care moving efficiently.
  • Work comfortably with technology, including electronic health records, scheduling systems, digital communication platforms, and other software used throughout the organization.
  • Travel between clinic locations as needed to help support staffing and patient care.
  • Maintain an all-hands-on-deck mentality, which may include assisting the clinical team with urine drug screen collections in high-volume offices, responding to important company communications, and helping keep both administrative and clinical spaces clean, organized, and welcoming.
