About The Position

At American Family Care (AFC), we are revolutionizing healthcare access as the nation's leading urgent care provider with over 200 clinics across 26 states. We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our clinic and the first step in our patient-first approach. This role is crucial for revenue protection and patient financial counseling, requiring exceptional skills in insurance verification and billing resolution to ensure both a positive patient experience and the clinic's financial health. The ideal candidate will be meticulous in verifying coverage, explaining costs clearly, and ensuring clean claims, making them an invaluable asset to our team.

Requirements

Experience with insurance verification and medical billing (non-negotiable).
Ability to explain complex insurance concepts to frustrated patients with empathy and clarity.
Obsessively detail-oriented.
Experience as a Medical Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, or in any Customer Service role in a medical office setting.
Tech-savvy with medical billing software and EMR systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to find billing solutions that work for both patients and the clinic.
Maintain a positive attitude even when dealing with challenging financial conversations.
High school diploma required.
Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period.

Nice To Haves

X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant or related certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Protect Patient Information: Maintain organized records while strictly following HIPAA regulations.
