About The Position

Golden State Dermatology is a rapidly expanding physician-led and owned dermatology group with over 45 locations across California. We specialize in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, including skin, hair, and nail conditions, Mohs surgery, cosmetic skincare, anti-aging, body contouring, and plastic surgery. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be essential in ensuring the front desk operates smoothly and providing excellent patient service. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, managing check-in/check-out, verifying insurance, handling phone calls, and maintaining patient records. You will also manage the appointment schedule, audit future appointments, confirm attendance, and collect necessary pre-appointment information. Additionally, you will contact patients from waiting lists to offer earlier appointments when openings arise, focusing on filling the soonest available slots. The role also involves educating patients and staff on products and selling skincare products. This position requires significant multitasking and task management to ensure all duties are completed promptly. The Practice Manager may assign additional tasks as needed. Your primary goal will be to provide exceptional patient service, making patients feel welcome, comfortable, and well-cared for. Attention to detail, a compassionate approach, and dedication to patient satisfaction are key to the success of our clinic.

Requirements

  • Customer service skills or a patient-centered mindset
  • Previous Dermatology, healthcare, or aesthetics experience
  • Knowledgeable with insurance carriers (i.e., Medicare, commercial, HMO)
  • Experience with EClinicalWorks, EMA, or other EMR software

Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcoming patients
  • Assisting with check-in and check-out procedures
  • Verifying patients' insurance coverage and eligibility
  • Handling phone inquiries
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Managing the appointment schedule, including auditing for future appointments and confirming attendance
  • Collecting necessary information before appointments (e.g., insurance details, intake questions)
  • Contacting patients on waiting lists or with future appointments to offer earlier slots, prioritizing filling the soonest available appointments for providers with open slots
  • Providing product education to patients and staff
  • Selling skincare products
  • Multitasking and task management to ensure all responsibilities are completed promptly
  • Performing additional job duties as assigned by the Practice Manager
