About The Position

Responsible for handling daily front office reception and administration duties to include greeting and promptly processing patients in a prompt and professional manner. This role optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and ensuring accurate financial information is collected. The Medical Receptionist also maintains office inventory and equipment, ensuring smooth daily operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year front office administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of health insurance industry.
  • Enthusiastic commitment to providing exceptional customer service to patients and internal customers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to patients, medical professionals, and clinic staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance workload to service patients and meet deadlines and requirements.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Must be able to operate basic office equipment such as a printer, scanner, fax, and/or copier.
  • High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Typing speed of 45-50 WPM.
  • Working knowledge of any medical software/systems is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and promptly processing patients in person or on the telephone.
  • Answering or referring inquiries.
  • Scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Notifying providers of patient arrivals and reminding them of service delays.
  • Verifying patient charts are complete and up to date, facilitating form completion, obtaining signatures, and collecting co-pays.
  • Anticipating patients' anxieties, answering their questions, and maintaining the reception area.
  • Filing and retrieving patient records to ensure treatment information is available.
  • Obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information for patient accounts.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely collections of patient co-pays or other financial obligations.
  • Maintaining business office inventory and equipment by checking stock, anticipating supplies, ordering, verifying receipt, and scheduling equipment service/repairs.
  • Protecting patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintaining operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Photocopying, computer input/typing, and scheduling radiology work.
  • Ordering medical records, preparing them for daily appointments, and typing various forms.
  • Receiving dropped off patient specimens and delivering them to the lab.
  • Performing any other related duties as required or assigned.
