The Front Office Associate is responsible for welcoming, greeting, and checking in/outpatients and collecting insurance and patient personal information. The Front Office Associate answers phones and calls patients to verify appointments, as well as assists in filing and maintaining patient files, both electronic and paper. This role involves performing the patient check-in process, verifying and updating demographics and insurance information, managing route slips and day sheets, scanning and uploading documents, scheduling patients in the Electronic Medical Records system, submitting authorizations, creating referral letters, confirming appointments, and performing patient check-out procedures. The position also requires the ability to handle system outages, collect and document patient complaints, verify medical history, document medications, and perform basic vision assessments and tests like Visual Acuity (VA) and intraocular pressure (IOP) with a Tonopen unit. Additionally, the role involves administering topical ophthalmic and dilation medications, ensuring a positive patient environment, preparing patients for treatment, assisting doctors, maintaining the waiting area, filing and uploading patient records, receiving supply deliveries, maintaining professional appearance, keeping commitments, and ensuring compliance with various regulations such as OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, and DOL.
