Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify patient information, insurance details, and collect co-payments or fees as required.
  • Maintain and update patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff or departments.
  • Coordinate patient flow by notifying medical staff of patient arrivals and managing waiting areas.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and preparing patient charts for appointments.
  • Handle billing inquiries and provide basic information regarding services and policies.
