About The Position

This is a Talent Pool posting for all MRT, Breast Imaging vacancies. UHN is Canada’s #1 hospital and a leading research hospital. The Medical Imaging department at UHN is one of the largest academic medical imaging departments in Canada, utilizing cutting-edge digital technology. The Breast Imaging Division is a Mammography Accredited Centre and an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site, serving outpatients and inpatients. The team performs screening and diagnostic mammography, assists in interventional procedures, and performs breast ultrasounds. UHN is committed to innovation, research, education, and patient care, and is affiliated with the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Education.

Requirements

CMRITO registration
Certification by the CAMRT or OAMRS with current membership and PLI
Previous Breast Imaging working experience with successful completion of Breast Imaging 1 and 2 certificates from CAMRT
Completed over 15 hours of continuing education in Mammography within the past 3 years and commitment to on-going continuing education that meets the CAR and hospital requirements
Completion of a BCLS program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification, with maintenance of certification
Effective time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize work
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Demonstrated initiative and comfort with decision making including an ability to respond to changing and emergent situations
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
Demonstrated good judgement to ensure work is always performed in the best interest and safety of the patient and the team

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated knowledge/experience in Digital Mammography and Digital equipment quality control
Previous working experience at an OBSP Facility including experience in performing OBSP digital quality control
Previous working experience at a CAR Mammography Accredited Facility and a CAR Mammography approved member
Previous breast ultrasound experience with DMS registration
Previous technologist experience in a hospital environment

Responsibilities

Perform high quality Breast Imaging procedures using digital equipment in a fast-pace and evolving environment
Digital quality assurance that meets mammography accreditation’s standard
Perform screening and diagnostic mammography
Complete breast interventional procedures
Ensure respectful communication with patients and team members
On-going commitment in continuing education that meets CAR and hospital requirements
Work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a fast paced, high patient volume setting, especially how to accommodate unexpected situations
Participate in teaching, as required
