The role of the MPA will focus on authorizations and is responsible for obtaining pre-authorizations, verifying insurance coverage, and coordinating approvals for medical services, procedures, or medications before they are performed. They act as a liaison between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted and approvals are obtained efficiently, preventing delays in patient care and ensuring compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements. The role of MPA is an administrative all-encompassing position that is comprised of workflows that adapt based on the needs of the practice. This position will greet patients upon arrival and ensure patients are seen by the provider accordingly. This medical office assistant will answer the phone and direct individuals to the appropriate channel as needed. In addition, this role will coordinate the provider's schedule to ensure patients are seen appropriately for their appointments, referrals and follow up appointments. This MPA will verify insurance and collect payments and ensure payments are accurately recorded. In addition, this role may obtain prior authorizations for all medications, durable medical equipment, procedures, and diagnostic tests for all patients, including workers compensation and commercial payers. The MPA may coordinate surgical scheduling. In this role, the MPA will work with their supervisor and peers to ensure patient and customer satisfaction is delivered to create a best-in-class experience across the site(s).
