About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Medical Physicist to join their dedicated team. This role involves collaborating with a Radiation Oncologist, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to provide state-of-the-art cancer care. The Schwab Family Cancer Center is accredited by the Commission on Cancer® and National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers, and is part of an integrated community network of cancer physicians and specialists. A partial remote coverage can also be discussed.

Requirements

  • A physical science or engineering degree required.
  • Masters required.
  • Two years Radiation Oncology Physics experience required.
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics or ABR Board eligible.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical physics is preferred.
  • Five years preferred experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work of dosimetrists to ensure accurate and personalized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist to plan and deliver patient treatments.
  • Develop and direct quality control programs for equipment and procedures.
  • Ensure equipment functionality by taking precise measurements of the radiation beam.
  • Perform clinical physics duties, including maintaining Commonwealth regulatory compliance and calibrating all radiation therapy equipment.
