About The Position

The Medical Operations Lead is a people leader and a member of the Strategy, Operations, and Excellence team in the Medical and Scientific Affairs (MSA) division. They play a key enabling role and will work closely with diverse stakeholders across MSA and the broader RDC organization to support the delivery of medical tactics with efficiency and excellence. They provide the structure and support to the MSA division by leading a team of Medical Scientific Associates accountable for: the harmonization, optimization, and training of systems, processes and tools enabling the execution of strategic medical plans efficiently and compliantly development of medical and scientific content and operational/logistics support for medical tactics including but not limited to advisory boards, education, contracting, internal/external communications. They are committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience and embed this mindset in their team and understand the importance of operational excellence to enable this outcome. They are a skilled people developer and passionate about bringing in and developing new talent within the organization and division.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in life sciences with 7+ years relevant experience (medical affairs or operations) OR Masters degree in science with 5+ years relevant experience (medical affairs or operations) OR Doctorate level degree in science with 3+ years relevant experience (medical affairs or operations)
  • 2+ years proven track record of successful people leadership and development
  • Strong understanding and diverse experience with medical strategic planning and tactical execution is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with process improvement and project management
  • Strong customer-focus and ability to translate and communicate scientific data into relevant medical information for diverse external and internal stakeholder audience
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and teams to support and enable operational excellence and problem solving across a matrixed organization
  • Strong organization and time management skills enabling management of multiple tasks and projects.
  • Able to identify and solve problems autonomously
  • Business acumen with strategic decision-making; adaptable in rapidly changing environments
  • Comprehensive understanding of the US diagnostics compliance and healthcare regulatory standards

  • Candidate with diverse medical affairs experience is preferred (i.e strategy, field and/or operations)
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate teams to create impact and deliver their best every day, previous people leadership/management experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team members have the relevant medical or scientific background, knowledge/expertise and all relevant training for their roles
  • Recruit, hire, train and provide continuous coaching and feedback necessary to develop a high-performance team which may include people in multiple locations

  • Provides vision and strategic direction to the operations team
  • Oversees the development, execution and continuous improvement of infrastructure and processes to support and expedite all (non-study management) MSA operations including but not limited to: Internal MSA - document and contract routing, department training, financial tracking/reconciliation, material review and approvals, report generation, annual medical planning process, compliance & policy updates, onboarding of new employees to key processes, systems and tools External Customer - contracts, HCP logistics and travel, reagent delivery, sponsorship/grant processing, payment management & reconciliation
  • Provides guidance to Medical Scientific Associates for the development and creation of relevant, evidence-based and balanced medical and scientific content for medical tactics including, but not limited to, educational programs, advisory boards, other communications
  • Serves as department champion/point of contact for major RDC operational or system initiatives (e.g. CoreMap, Salesforce, data privacy, internal/external website management)
