About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine is currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Oncologist/Hematologist to join our team. The Department of Internal Medicine provides specialty services across the continuum of care at JPS. We currently have over 100 providers who work in a variety of different locations including the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and our Community Medicine Clinics. Our specialties include Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Oncology, Palliative Care, Pulmonology, Critical Care, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Dermatology and Rheumatology. Acclaim Multi-Specialty Group (Acclaim) is a multi-specialty medical group practice comprised of over 500 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who partner with JPS Health Network (JPS). Requirements

  • Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Residency and/or Fellowship training within specialty.
  • Texas Medical License
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible.

  • Candidates with experience in academic medicine and a demonstrated commitment to resident and fellow education are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with malignant and benign hematologic disorders and solid tumor cancers.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on current clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Prescribe and manage chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, hormonal therapies, and supportive care treatments.
  • Interpret laboratory, pathology, imaging, and diagnostic test results.
  • Conduct inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-up visits.
  • Coordinate care with surgeons, radiation oncologists, primary care physicians, pathologists, radiologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor treatment responses, manage complications, and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and disease management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical performance activities.
  • Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, nurses, and other clinical staff.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Engage in clinical research, teaching, or community outreach activities as appropriate.
  • Participate in the teaching, training, and mentorship of residents and fellows, as appropriate.
