About The Position

Duties include scheduling, patient communication, filing, and billing support including collecting any co-payment or appointment fees at patient check-in/out. This position will work on a team in a fast-paced environment, working directly with people.

Requirements

  • Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months), from the categories below: A. College education with coursework in a medical or para-medical field such as nursing assistant, medical assistant, or medical secretary and/or business fields such as business, finance, computer science, public administration, or social science, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: - 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) - Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) - 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) B. Work experience comparable to that performed at the Medical Office Associate level or in other positions of comparable responsibility.
  • Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
  • Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
  • Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
  • Applicants for this position must be authorized to work in the U.S. without ISU sponsorship. Sponsorship for work authorization will not be considered for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of professional office experience in a medical setting, including experience with insurance coverage and verification of coverage.
  • Experience working and in an EMR with accurate and thorough documentation.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Illinois State University campus and surrounding communities.
  • Independent, self-starter, flexible, and able to prioritize and handle multiple, sometimes simultaneous requests for assistance.
  • Ability to adapt quickly from one task to another while maintaining attention to the details.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of constituents and to work effectively with frequent interruptions.
