About The Position

This full-time position in ChristianaCare's Rehabilitation Department in Wilmington, DE, is responsible for coordinating all administrative activities for therapy patients. This includes scheduling, billing, and reimbursement, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in a medical office practice setting is required
  • Good communication skills
  • Medical Terminology
  • Must have transportation

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all front desk operations.
  • Train new personnel on clerical functions.
  • Schedule patient appointments, considering insurance and prescription parameters.
  • Register new patients, collecting demographic and insurance information, and obtaining original prescriptions.
  • Assist patients with completing intake forms.
  • Advise patients on insurance benefits related to physical therapy coverage.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, compatible plans, referral authorization, and co-payment amounts.
  • Obtain pre-certifications and referrals for new patients and follow up for additional visits.
  • Research and follow up on insurance and/or prescription issues.
  • Respond directly to customer inquiries.
  • Maintain communication with clinical staff to ensure appropriate scheduling and avoid treatment delays.
  • Communicate with the site program manager regarding clerical operations.
  • Interact professionally with physicians and their offices.
  • Manage medical charts.
  • Call or email new patients to confirm appointments and no-show patients to obtain reasons and remind them of their next appointment.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient transportation.
  • Perform general receptionist duties.
  • Create charts for new patients with all necessary information.
  • Record daily statistics in a monthly log.
  • Follow protocol for medical records requests.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Inventory and order office supplies as needed.
