About The Position

To ensure effective and accurate greeting and scheduling of patients to best meet the patients’ medical needs and to maximize use of the medical resources to maintain medical record files and medical reports in an orderly and retrievable manner; to collect daily receipts.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Previous medical receptionist: clerical experience preferred.
  • Excellent guest relations skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn the Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) within sixty days (60) of system implementation or new hire.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn procedures regarding electronic document management which includes but is not limited to document scanning, document manipulation utilizing the Zeta Fax, etc.
  • Basic computer skills and/or previous experience with electronic medical records highly desirable.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients, in person and over the phone, in a manner that is designed to yield a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Schedules appointments within the Electronic Medical Record System according to established policy and procedures.
  • Monitors patient flow through reception and works with healthcare team to minimize wait time and delays.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction. Accountable for achieving quality standards.
  • Utilizes the electronic medical record/billing system to perform several key billing procedures which may include but are not limited to entry/verification of patient demographics, collection of patient co-payments, charge entry, charge adjustments, collections at the time of service and cash management according to established policy and procedures. Assists in the clinic financial performance.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, ascertains caller information and transfer to appropriate party or takes a message utilizing phone notes in the Electronic Medical Record System as appropriate.
  • Responsible for several tasks related to the flow of paper through the office. This may include, but not limited to: working with incoming mail, pulling medical records for appointments when necessary, assisting with billing requests and reports, filing of key components in the paper medical record and filing paper chart medical records.
  • Complies with all reimbursement rules and regulations, including corporate compliance plan, complies with established clinical policies/procedures and safety standards.
  • Contributes to the clinic’s financial and quality performance by maintaining efficiency and supporting cost-effective care delivery.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and commitment to achieving department goals and objectives.
  • Foster a professional and confidential relationship with staff and patients, encouraging open communication, trust, and a high standard of professionalism within the department and the hospital.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.
