About The Position

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. (LTSi) is seeking a Medical Office Appointment Clerk to work at the 55th Medical Group Ehrling Bergquist Clinic at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. Requirements

  • Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment, such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.
  • Knowledge of general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • At least 6 months of experience in medical office scheduling.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer Service Training/experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology desired.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules appointments in Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/AHLTA for primary care, specialty, and subspecialty medical care.
  • Calls patients or responds to secure messaging submissions to schedule, reschedule, and/or cancel appointments, including those for consult/referral specialty care within the MTF or at civilian facilities.
  • Schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services via phone, secure messaging, or other request methods.
  • Supports PCM by name processing for appointments and appropriate access to care timeframes during allocation of standard appointment types.
  • Maintains appointment schedules using T-Metrics or MHS Genesis.
  • Validates eligibility through appropriate booking through Defense Eligibility Report System (DEERS).
  • May register patients not already in the computer system, such as newborns.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient schedules and logs.
  • Utilizes T-Metrics/MHS Genesis system tools (detail codes, freezing slots, and TRICARE on-line usage) to facilitate maintenance of appointment slots, rescheduling options, or cancellation processing.
  • Validates basic MHS Genesis patient demographic information prior to booking appointments.
  • Makes required updates to patient information.
  • Promotes consult/referral specialty medical care within the MTF or at civilian facilities.
  • Provides patients with specific visit instructions.
  • Pulls records and files documentation as needed.
  • Confirms medical records are available for upcoming appointments on provider schedules.
  • May assist in the preparation of patient notices (telephonically or form letter formats) for appointment reminders, no shows, or reschedule/cancellations.
  • Receives and electronically delivers telephone messages (t-cons) to PCMs and/or clinic nurses using T-Metrics or MHS Genesis per individual clinic guidelines.
  • Attends the clinic Access to Care Meeting as the central booking representative if in the lead clerk position.
