About The Position

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, a national law firm with offices in all 50 states, has openings for Medical Malpractice Attorneys to join its growing litigation practice in St. Louis. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 4-8 years of experience. The firm offers flexible options for successful candidates, including hybrid opportunities. Candidates must be driven team players with excellent litigation, writing, and persuasive speaking skills, possess strong academic backgrounds, proven skills in research, and be self-starters who are able to handle assignments with minimal supervision. Trial experience is preferred but not required. GRSM is a full-service, Am Law 100 firm with robust national and local practices, including professional negligence, commercial litigation, general liability, insurance defense, and employment, among others. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Missouri, with Illinois licensure preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-8 years of experience.

  • Licensed to practice in Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting early case evaluation and developing defense strategy.
  • Reviewing and analyzing medical records and complex medical issues.
  • Working directly with physicians, nurses, hospitals, risk managers, and insurance professionals.
  • Drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and substantive legal correspondence.
  • Preparing and responding to written discovery.
  • Taking and defending depositions of plaintiffs, healthcare providers, corporate representatives, and other witnesses.
  • Preparing and defending expert witnesses.
  • Identifying, retaining, and working closely with medical experts.
  • Evaluating causation, standard of care, damages, and exposure.
  • Preparing cases for mediation and settlement.
  • Handling hearings and other court proceedings.
  • Preparing cases for trial and participating in trial proceedings.
  • Communicating directly with sophisticated clients and insurance professionals.
  • Working collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, and litigation support staff.
