About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or equivalent from an accredited certifying body.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and CLIA.
• Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong understanding of microbiology, hematology, chemistry, and immunology testing procedures.
• Technical skills daily to operate and maintain complex laboratory instruments, ensuring precise and accurate test results.
• Analytical skills are essential for interpreting data and identifying anomalies that may affect patient diagnosis.
• Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with healthcare providers to discuss findings and support clinical decisions.
• Attention to detail is critical in specimen handling, documentation, and adherence to safety protocols to maintain laboratory integrity.
• Continuous learning and adaptability enable the technologist to stay current with evolving technologies and regulatory standards, enhancing overall laboratory performance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, and handling to maintain sample integrity and prevent contamination.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
• Document and report test results accurately and promptly to physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards, including quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education to stay current with advancements in laboratory technology and methodologies.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to discuss test results and provide technical expertise when necessary.
