The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness, and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees. This position provides clinical support for the diagnosis of foreign and domestic animal diseases by molecular-based methods. This position is to support state efforts for increased foreign animal disease surveillance, particularly high pathogenicity avian influenza and classical swine fever. Applicants must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail as mandatory. Individuals must be able to follow directions well, be effective team workers, and have experience in quality control for laboratory testing. Position will work in a BSL3 laboratory and must observe all procedural guidelines for laboratory operation. Must be available on an emergency basis in a disease crisis.
