About The Position

Responsible for all duties related to the receipt, handling and processing of surgical pathology specimens.

Requirements

• Current general registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario required
• Recent clinical experience of 3-5 years in Histology
• Must be proficient in embedding specimens of all complexity
• Must be proficient in microtomy of all specimens not limited to biopsies, smalls and bigs
• Must be proficient in special stains and all aspects of slide review and QC
• Experience in routine Histology procedures and equipment
• Working knowledge of all Pathology quality assurance and quality controls required
• Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of a team
• A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
• Good employment and attendance record required

Nice To Haves

• Strong working knowledge and experience in immunohistochemistry an asset
• Experience in specimen grossing an asset
