About The Position
This job performs microscopic screening and diagnosis of gynecological and miscellaneous specimens. Assists in collection and preparation of fine needle aspiration specimens; performs ancillary prep, clerical and quality control duties when needed; enters negative gynecological results into computer; participates in on-site cytology and other continuing education opportunities. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Graduation from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation accredited school of cytotechnologist or other organization approved by Health and Human Services or Certified in cytotechnologist by a certification agency approved by HHS (e.g., American Society of Clinical Pathologists).
- Work Experience Required - None.
- C.T. (ASCP) registered.
- Louisiana CYT license or eligible.
Responsibilities
- Performs microscopic screening and diagnosis of gynecological and miscellaneous specimens.
- Assists in collection and preparation of fine needle aspiration specimens.
- Performs ancillary prep, clerical and quality control duties when needed.
- Enters negative gynecological results into computer.
- Participates in on-site cytology and other continuing education opportunities.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient related information.
- Ensures clinical competency.

- Adheres to regulatory agency compliance.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
