About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Sturgis, SD. This role is within a critical access facility offering laboratory services 24/7.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience is acceptable; however, first-time travelers are not preferred.
• Must have appropriate laboratory certification (ASCP preferred but not required; AMT accepted).
• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or in chemical, physical, or biological science.
• If military training has been completed, a high school diploma or GED is necessary, along with an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration, and experience as a Medical Laboratory Specialist.
• Proficiency in Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank (including releasing units).
• Able to work as a generalist within the laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, and perform a variety of laboratory tests, from routine to complex, using independent judgment.
• Assist with department procedures, including quality assurance, proficiency testing, and calibrations.
• Identify technical, instrumental, and physiological causes of unexpected results, and communicate necessary information to resolve inconsistencies with providers.
• Troubleshoot analyzer and procedural problems, working towards effective resolution.
• Support personnel as directed by the supervisor.
• Demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction, professionalism, and safety.
