About The Position

AMERICAN HEALTH ASSOCIATES (AHA) is a premier clinical laboratory in the region, servicing over 3000 long-term care facilities and growing rapidly nationwide. We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our laboratory team at our Pinellas County location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting findings to physicians, ensuring adherence to CLIA standards and laboratory procedures. This is a part-time position where your work will directly impact patients and their families.

Requirements

Associate degree in biological science or chemistry, required.
Must hold an active Florida MT or MLT State License.
Must hold one of the following certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB, required.

Responsibilities

Performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians.
Meeting Personnel Responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495: Standard Testing Personnel Responsibilities.
Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintaining records to demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Adhering to the laboratory’s quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
Following laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are not within established acceptable levels of performance.
Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correcting them or immediately notifying the technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Producing and reporting appropriate laboratory results in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, automated chemistry, and automated immunology.
Performing, interpreting, and recording quality control data in all departments.
Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation as prescribed in procedures.
Performing inventory and maintaining department supplies.
