About The Position

AMERICAN HEALTH ASSOCIATES (AHA) is a premier clinical laboratory in the region, servicing over 3000 long-term care facilities and growing rapidly nationwide. We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our laboratory team at our Pinellas County location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting findings to physicians, ensuring adherence to CLIA standards and laboratory procedures. This is a part-time position where your work will directly impact patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in biological science or chemistry, required.
  • Must hold an active Florida MT or MLT State License.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB, required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians.
  • Meeting Personnel Responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495: Standard Testing Personnel Responsibilities.
  • Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintaining records to demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhering to the laboratory’s quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Following laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are not within established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correcting them or immediately notifying the technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
  • Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Producing and reporting appropriate laboratory results in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, automated chemistry, and automated immunology.
  • Performing, interpreting, and recording quality control data in all departments.
  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation as prescribed in procedures.
  • Performing inventory and maintaining department supplies.
