About The Position

AMERICAN HEALTH ASSOCIATES (AHA) is a leading clinical laboratory serving over 3000 long-term care facilities and is one of the fastest-growing independent labs in the nation. We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for our Pinellas County location. In this role, you will perform a full range of laboratory testing, report findings to physicians, and adhere to CLIA standards. You will be responsible for specimen handling, test analysis, record keeping, quality control, instrument maintenance, and inventory management. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients and their families within the long-term care industry.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in biological science or chemistry, required.
  • Must hold an active Florida MT or MLT State License.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: ASCP, AMT, or AAB, required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians.
  • Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Ensuring proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhering to quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, and instrument/procedural calibrations and maintenance.
  • Following established policies and procedures when test systems are not within acceptable performance levels.
  • Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting and either correcting them or notifying the technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
  • Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Producing and reporting appropriate laboratory results in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, automated chemistry, and automated immunology.
  • Performing, interpreting, and recording quality control data in all departments.
  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation as prescribed in procedures.
  • Performing inventory and maintaining department supplies.
