About The Position

Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH) in Gravette, AR is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician for its Laboratory department. The hospital's mission is to provide exceptional healthcare and preventive services with compassion, respect, and dignity, focusing on serving the underserved and improving access to care. The Medical Laboratory Technician, under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and Pathologist, will be responsible for obtaining, registering, and testing patient samples, delivering results to providers, and maintaining the laboratory, equipment, and supplies. This role requires the ability to competently perform, troubleshoot, and accurately report routine clinical laboratory tests and procedures under general supervision, and may involve instructing other personnel. The technician must be able to correlate and interpret data based on physiological conditions, identify and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate from an accredited program with an Associate Degree in Clinic Laboratory Science, including Military Degrees
  • Current certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician through NCA, ASCP, AMT or exam eligible. (Employees with Military Degrees are exempt.)
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform the technical skills and critical thinking outlines in the performance standards.
  • Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Recertification required before expiration throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Independently obtaining, registering, and testing patient samples
  • Delivering results to providers
  • Contributing to general maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies
  • Competently performing, problem-solving, and reporting accurately all established routine clinical laboratory tests and procedures under general supervision
  • Assisting in instructing other personnel as assigned
  • Correlating and interpreting data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results
  • Recognizing problems, identifying the cause, and resolving solutions to problems
