Travel Medical Technologist
About The Position
A rural hospital several hundred miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking a full-time Travel Medical Laboratory Technician. The position pays $65.00 per hour, with housing and flights provided. The technician performs and validates a range of laboratory tests on body fluids and other substances to support diagnosis and treatment. The role also includes verifying test procedures, reporting results, maintaining records, distributing test reports, and helping resolve technical problems. The technician monitors test analysis and specimen examinations through proficiency testing and ensures that any needed remedial actions are taken and communicated to testing personnel.
Requirements
- Must have ASCP or AMT certification.
- Alaska licensure is not required.
- Able to lift or carry 25 to 50 pounds unaided.
- Able to view electronic monitors for prolonged periods.
Responsibilities
- Perform and validate chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic, and bacteriologic tests of body fluids and substances to provide data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Verify test procedures for accuracy for each test and test system in the assigned specialty.
- Report results, maintain records, and assist with distributing test reports.
- Assist in resolving technical problems.
- Monitor test analysis and specimen examination through evaluation of proficiency testing.
- Ensure remedial action is taken and communicated to all testing personnel when necessary.
