About The Position

A rural hospital several hundred miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking a full-time Travel Medical Laboratory Technician. The role performs and validates laboratory tests on body fluids and other substances to provide data for disease diagnosis and treatment. The technician verifies test procedures for accuracy, reports results, maintains records, assists with distributing test reports, and helps resolve technical problems while monitoring test analysis and specimen examinations. Housing and flights are provided. Pay is $65.00 per hour.

Requirements

Must have ASCP or AMT certification.
Alaska licensure is not required.
Able to lift or carry 25 to 50 pounds unaided.
Able to view electronic monitors for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

Perform and validate chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic, and bacteriologic tests of body fluids and substances to provide data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Verify the accuracy of test procedures for each test and test system within the assigned specialty.
Report results, maintain records, and assist with distributing test reports.
Assist in resolving technical problems.
Monitor test analysis and specimen examination through evaluation of proficiency testing.
Ensure remedial action is taken and communicated to all testing personnel when necessary.
