About The Position

Cook Hospital & Care Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join their Laboratory team. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality healthcare to the community in a close-knit, patient-centered environment. Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through ASCP or NCA
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and patient safety

Nice To Haves

  • Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing, specimen processing, and result reporting according to established procedures
  • Maintain quality control documentation and proficiency testing records
  • Identify, troubleshoot, correct, or report issues affecting test performance
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, peer review, and competency assessments
  • Assist with training students and new staff members
  • Collaborate effectively with providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in on-call rotations and hospital education programs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory
  • Perform other duties as assigned
