About The Position

As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. You will begin your onboarding and technical development in Patient Sample Management, where you will gain foundational competencies in specimen receipt, processing, and workflow coordination. Upon successful completion of initial training, you will advance through a structured rotation across additional laboratory departments. Subsequent areas of training will include: Urinalysis — performance of routine and automated urinalysis testing, interpretation of results, and adherence to quality control standards. Hematology — operation of hematology analyzers, manual differentials, and review of abnormal findings in accordance with laboratory protocols. Chemistry — execution of clinical chemistry assays, instrument maintenance, reagent management, and troubleshooting procedures. Coagulation — performance of coagulation testing, monitoring of quality indicators, and verification of critical results. Cytology — support of cytology workflows, including specimen preparation, staining procedures, and quality assurance practices.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
  • Positive attitude and energy to support colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Concentrate on the details and work reliably and precisely.
  • Great sense of team spirit and responsibility.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
  • Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience and education would be a plus.
