The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist performs tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease, monitor response to treatment, and aid in health maintenance. This role also serves as a technical resource for lesser credentialed staff, assists in training new staff, troubleshoots and addresses instrument issues, and uses critical thinking and clinical knowledge to assess questionable results and correlate them with clinical information to determine accuracy. Requirements

  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor's Degree must be obtained within 90 days OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND Grandfathered status under CLIA Regulations
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Knowledge of current information technology and an ability to lead project teams to accomplish automation projects of large size and complexity
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Proficient in all Microsoft programs; high level proficiency in Excel
  • For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist from either American Medical Technology (AMT), American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or American Society of Clinical Pathologist – International (ASCPi)
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Associates Degree OR completion of an accredited MLT Program
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills
  • For Medical Laboratory Technician: Certified as a Medical Lab Technician from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency or eligible to sit for exam at time of hire; must obtain certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities
