About The Position

As a Veterinary Medical Laboratory Technician Processor at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that aids veterinarians in diagnosing and treating pets. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comfortable working with biological samples (blood, fecal, urine, etc.).
  • Ability to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb.
  • Specific vision ability required: close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Positive attitude and energy.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work reliably and precisely.
  • Strong sense of team spirit and responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field.
  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT).
  • Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT).
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting, clinical diagnostic analyzers).

Responsibilities

  • Processing incoming laboratory samples, including blood, fecal, urine, and other clinical pathology samples.
  • Handling high volumes of samples in a fast-paced department.
  • Utilizing automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests.
  • Diagnosing animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases to support veterinarian treatment.
  • Performing diagnostic tests on thousands of blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples daily.
  • Setting up, running, reading, and releasing lab test results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Specializing in an assigned department.
