Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have worked an alternate shift in the past (overnight or flex shift).
Required to work with veterinary clinical samples: blood, urine, fecal samples, surgical biopsies, etc.
Ability to meet the physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting.
Punctuality and reliable attendance are essential.

Nice To Haves

A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT).
Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
Positive attitude and energy.
Desire to work in a team.
Attention to detail and ability to work reliably and precisely.
Strong sense of team spirit and responsibility.

Responsibilities

Perform analyses and tests using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
Conduct diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received daily.
Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Specialize in an assigned department, which could include Parasitology, Hematology, Serology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, or Cytology.
