About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist performs routine laboratory procedures on blood, urine, and tissue specimens. The role analyzes test results to determine the presence, absence, or cause of disease, maintains laboratory equipment to support accurate and timely reporting, and serves as an educator as needed. This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a 15% shift differential.

Requirements

An associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology is required, or an accepted equivalent qualification.
In lieu of an associate degree, a high school diploma or equivalent plus successful completion of at least 50 weeks of military training and service as a Medical Laboratory Specialist is accepted.
An education and training equivalent to an associate degree may qualify: 60 semester hours, including either 24 semester hours of Medical Laboratory Technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology, or any combination), plus an approved/accredited clinical laboratory training program or at least three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high-complexity testing.
Obtain certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 12 months of hire.
