Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - Special Chemistry
About The Position
Labcorp is seeking a Technician to join our team in San Diego, CA. This role involves determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and monitoring/troubleshooting instrumentation. The ideal candidate will be able to make technical decisions, prepare and test new reagents, report accurate test results, perform preventive maintenance and quality control, and maintain a safe work environment. The position also involves assisting with specimen processing and replenishing testing bench supplies as needed. Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- California state issued Medical Lab Technician license (MLT)
- Proficient with computers
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Nice To Haves
- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
