About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice. This role involves specimen integrity, laboratory operations, professional accountability, test procedures, quality control/documentation, and safety. Texas Health Denton is a 255-bed, full-service hospital providing convenient care to people across North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1987. With more than 1,100 employees and 450 physicians on our medical staff, we’re one of Denton County’s largest employers. Texas Health Denton is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence and a Magnet® designated hospital.

Requirements

Associate's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological science preferred; must be attained within 3 months of hire as required.
Or another education equivalent to an associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical technology (must include at least 60 hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that include at a minimum either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include at least 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination is required prior to hire.
Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program is required.
MLT(ASCP) - Medical Lab Technician MLT(ASCP) or equivalent (AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology) Registry must be attained within 6 months of hire date.

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological science is preferred upon hire and must be attained within 3 months of hire.
Two (2) years of experience in a Medical Laboratory is preferred.
MLT(ASCP) is preferred and required within 6 months of hire.
