About The Position
Performs routine laboratory testing under general supervision. This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position.
Requirements
- Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training.
- PC skills needed for efficient computer utilization.
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize work in an effective and efficient manner.
- Ability to be detail oriented in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
Nice To Haves
- National certification exam as a laboratory scientist that is accredited by an approved agency preferred.
- 1 year lab experience with high complexity testing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect and process biological specimens and other substances.
- Performs and reports routine analytical tests under direction of medical technologist, recognizing factors that affect procedures and results, and taking appropriate actions within predetermined limits when corrections are indicated.
- Perform and monitor quality control within predetermined limits.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment under direction of medical technologist.
- Supports laboratory goals by demonstrating teamwork, service excellence, adhering to established guidelines and policies.
- Looks for ways to improve processes.
- Works with medical laboratory science students during educational laboratory activities.
