Medical Laboratory Technician - 1st Shift
About The Position
As a Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that aids veterinarians in diagnosing and treating pets. Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work with animal specimen samples (blood, urine, fecal samples, surgical biopsy samples, etc.)
- Positive attitude and energy to support colleagues
- Ability to work reliably and precisely
- Great sense of team spirit and responsibility
- Able to meet the physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus)
- Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals
Nice To Haves
- A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred
Responsibilities
- Organizing samples
- Ensuring all tests are accessioned into the computer system and accounted for
- Setting up and running lab tests
- Reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Specializing in an assigned department
