About The Position

Missouri Baptist Sullivan is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our Laboratory team. This role supports Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank services. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital is a designated critical access hospital committed to providing quality health care service to residents in Crawford, Franklin and Washington counties. The hospital has enhanced and expanded the health care services available to the greater Sullivan community with its state-of-the-art emergency department, modern childbirth center, critical care unit, multiroom surgical suite, expanded cardiac rehab services, and a cancer center. A 22,500 square-foot medical office building provides offices for primary care physicians as well as space for a variety of visiting medical and surgical specialists from the St. Louis area. Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital operates four rural health clinics providing quality health care to surrounding communities. In addition, the hospital operates a comprehensive Therapy and Rehabilitation department and an award-winning Wound Care Center with two hyperbaric chambers. Our full-service CAP certified laboratory is open 24/7. The lab performs a variety of tests including basic and comprehensive profiles, lipid panels, complete blood count, coagulation studies and therapeutic drug testing. The lab also provides blood bank services and features an outpatient drawing room. The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) I performs processing and routine testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Demonstrates good laboratory practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical/Life Science/related
  • <2 years experience

Responsibilities

  • Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs all testing and operation of equipment as necessary to deliver quality results.
  • Reports results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
  • Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems. Specific quality functions are handled in an organized and timely fashion.
