About The Position

Endeavor Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for their Skokie Hospital location. This is a full-time position with a specific shift schedule. The role involves evaluating and interpreting laboratory test results, processing blood components for transfusions, conducting compatibility testing, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and adhering to quality control processes. A key responsibility includes performing routine processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science
  • Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to various Laboratory areas with assistance under supervision.
  • Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduated from MLS (Bachelors) or MLT (Associates) program.
  • MLS or MLT certification
  • Previous relevant clinical experience.
  • Strong foundation in medical laboratory science.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accurately.
  • Process and prepare blood components such as red blood cells, platelets, and plasma for transfusions, following standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct antibody screening and compatibility testing on blood samples, using advanced laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies in good working condition, troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Ensure proper inventory management of blood products by monitoring expiration dates and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Adhere to quality control and quality assurance processes, performing routine checks and participating in proficiency testing.
  • Perform routine processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) according to SOP, using sterile technique and following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
