About The Position

Community College of Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part-time adjunct faculty member for the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program for the 2026–2027 academic year. This role involves teaching and mentoring students in various areas of medical laboratory science, upholding the college's mission and values. The courses are delivered in a hybrid format, with online lectures and in-person labs/clinical practice. The selected candidate will be expected to commit to at least two days per week between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution required.
  • Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program required.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP preferred or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience in a clinical laboratory setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in an MLS or MLT program within a college or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and mentoring skills preferred.
  • Experience teaching in online or hybrid modalities preferred.
  • Experience with or strong familiarity with instructional technology, learning management systems (LMS) – Canvas preferred.
  • Experience with program assessment, accreditation processes, curriculum development preferred.
  • Experience in working with/advisory committees, community/industry partnerships preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes (NAACLS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach at least two courses in one or more of the following areas: Phlebotomy, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry, and Clinical practice.
  • Assist with program operations, which may include: Securing and maintaining medical laboratory clinical sites, Coordinating student clinical schedules, Communicating with clinical site staff, Reviewing and ensuring student compliance with program requirements.
  • Participate in program and course-level assessment, student recruitment, and mentoring.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in assigned modalities (classroom, hybrid, online, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and grading documentation.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support academic success and retention.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Stay current with instructional technology, discipline-specific developments, and best practices in teaching and student success.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum updates and program improvement initiatives.
