This role involves performing and reporting on laboratory tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, for patients of all ages. The objective is to assist in the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries. Responsibilities include exhibiting problem-solving skills, participating in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring, instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting, specimen processing, and customer service. The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) role additionally requires interpreting and correlating test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge, performing highly complex problem-solving, and potentially participating in research, development, education, and technical consultation.
